YAY! My Spring Semester at College is complete!

I don’t know if you have notice, but for the last 3 months I have not had a lot of time to write on the blog. I sure did miss it, but I was doing something very important. I was going to college! I enrolled in my local college, and started working towards a better education and future for my family. I had my last college final exam yesterday which was Math, but overall I feel good about how I did with that test. Studying takes up a lot of my time, and I was also voted in as the Secretary for our Veteran Support Club on the campus.  Not to mention I have a 6 year old at home half the day.

So are you wondering what I am majoring in? I am going back to school for Journalism and Public Relations with a minor in Travel and Tourism. I would love to one day travel the world writing about what I see. My goal is to become a writer for AAA or any of the other amazing travel companies out there. I have a long way to go, but I know that continuing my education is the best thing for me.

This semester I took a few of the core classes I need to graduate. The most interesting class this semester was “Psychology of Adjustment” the book was titled “Psychology and the Challenges of Life Adjustment and Growth.” I found this class very insightful, and intriguing. I have a step daughter that travels back and forth from her mom to us, and the section of our book about children was eye opening. The Professor was amazing! She was a straight forward, class open discussion, speaks her mind kind of professor. I loved it, and the class was more of an open discussion learning class than a book only one. We only had 1 test, and our final was to write a paper on a 30 Day Challenge we participated in, in April “I gave up Diet Coke.” My other two classes were English 101 and Pre-Algebra. English was what I expected… essays, essays, and yet more essays. It was simple and easy, but being forced to write about a topic you don’t care for can be hard. Math was by far the hardest class of the three. I do not know what my grade on the final exam is yet, but I feel I did well. Coming into the final I had a grade of 97%, so even if I bombed it I would still pass.

UPDATE! I received my GPA Grade for this semester and it’s a 4.0 Woohoo!!!

I also mentioned that I was voted into the Veteran Support Club on the college campus as the Secretary. Not sure if you know, but I was a Machinist Mate “steam plant engineer” in the Navy. The purpose of this club is to provide support to all military personnel and their families. We assist military members integrate into the civilian, and college lifestyle. We want to bring awareness to the unique experiences of veterans and active duty personnel who attend our school. Along with educate faculty, students, and the community on veteran issues regarding transition, disability, policy, employment, education, and service. We do a lot more than what I have listed here, I just wanted to give you a quick over view.

What am I going to do now? Hopefully catch up on the blog for the next two weeks before the Summer semester begins. I will be a full time student taking 3 classes… Yeah I know it’s crazy! So keep an eye out for more to come, and if it gets quite well I may be studying for my college classes.

Have a wonderful Summer!

Best,

Jeanette
