Monetize your blog and start earning an income with these simple steps!

Monetize your blog

First off HI!

I want to wish you good luck monetizing your blog, and I am here to help you learn how!

I have worked as an affiliate manager for over 2 years on multiple blogs, and I would love to share what I have learned with you. Do I know everything about affiliates? No, but I bet that whatever I miss someone here will have that company affiliate or information you need.

Before I get started I ask that if you do share this information with other bloggers please let them know you got it from me. I would also appreciate you use my referral links below to sign up as a “thank you” since I am giving you this great information free of charge, and I know it will help you if you follow these simple steps!

NOW to get started!

So you want to make money with affiliates aye?

Well let me tell you, it is no walk in the park. I am not saying that to scare you off, but to inform you. Once you get into affiliates it’s like a black hole lol. There are so many options, and companies out there, that you can become stuck, and put off. If you go gung ho you may burn out. I remember there was a week that I had so much going on managing affiliates that I did burn out & I had to step away for a few days to get my bearing again. Like I said, I say that to prepare you. Do not be scared of making money via affiliates, and remember you can always step away from the computer.
So if you are ready to take the plunge read on!

Remember that you do not want to over run your site with affiliates unless it is an affiliate driven site. Most people find a good medium of 70% Content-30% affiliate or 80%-20%.

Step 1.
What kind of blog do you have?
You always want to take to mind what type of blog you have. If you have a blog that is all about your dog for example you do not want to have affiliates for baby toys.
Keep your content, and affiliates closely related in some way.

Step 2.
KNOW Your Audience!
What do your fans like? Do you think if you spend time writing a post for say parachuting are your fans going to go read it? If your audience base is moms you want affiliates moms can relate to or something they would buy for a family member. Affiliates are there to make You Money not Waste Your Time.

Now that you have thought about the first two steps lets take some time to talk about affiliates and payday.

One of the things you should take a look at when signing up with affiliates is:
How much money you need to accumulate to be paid, and Net payout (How long it will take for them to pay you). You also want to see how they pay you. Paypal, check or direct deposit.

Sometimes this can get confusing with all the different companies out there & that’s why I keep a google doc of who I work with and when they pay.
Some companies will pay you at 5 days from the end of the month, and other’s have a net 30 meaning you won’t be paid for 30 days after the month ends. Sometimes that 30 day wait can be hard especially if it’s your top money maker for your affiliates. There are a few affiliates out there that will only pay by check so if you can’t do that I suggest not signing up for those.

I bet your ready for me to post my favorite affiliates to work with now!
Well I am!

I am going to post my favorite sites to work with first! I am using my affiliate referral links I would appreciate it if you signed up under them. If you don’t want to I understand, but I would be very thankful!

My Number 1 all time favorite affiliate network is:
Share A Sale Join Here —> Join, Earn Cash!
ShareASale is a great affiliate network for all blogs. They have so many different companies in their network that you are bound to find something that works with your blog. Plus you can get reviews from quite a few of the companies on ShareASale. Payout as low as $5o and they pay on the 20th of the month.
Another reason I love ShareASale… BONUS POSTS!
Bonus Posts are from companies you are signed up with. They will email you a “sample post” that you can put your own twist on, or in some cases they tell you want they want & you write it. Most pay between $5-$10 a post. I have had a few $20 bonus posts one $50 post & 1 $100 bonus post. You can also get an email to have their banner on your site to get a bonus from them.(I will list companies I know that have bonus posts below).
Bonus posts make great money around the Holidays. If you are signed up with enough you can make a decent profit in November and December. Last year I made about $600 just in bonus posts in November. A few of the brands on ShareASale also have blogger giveaways, and contests. (I will post these companies at the end of this post). There is 1 downfall with ShareASale & that is that a handfull of companies do not work with New York Bloggers due to tax reasons.
***A bonus post is like a sponsored post. You are paid to post an article that has your affiliate links in it promoting new products or giveaways. The affiliate links help drive more income from these posts as well as being paid to write the post***

My #2 is
Join here —>
Amazon has everything, and once you get use to the set up it is fairly easy to use.
writing a post using your amazon links has great advantages. You can do a round up post for something like “Top 5 baby toys”, and include your amazon link for each item. Once your post gets around and goes viral your bound to make some cash. Amazon is really great when they have specials for Black Friday and Cyber Monday. All you need to do is keep and eye on the deal and share it on your page.

My #3 site is:
Escalate join here
Escalate has never been my top money maker, but I love the low $25 payout at net 15. Escalate also has a great Enfluencer program that connects brands to bloggers. One of the latest programs they had was for American Doll. They also have a great coupon widget if you include coupons on your blog. Escalate is starting to do bigger things so it’s a great site to join even if the offers they have right now don’t fit your blog.

My #4 site is:
CPADNA (Dedicated Media)
Join CPADNA here

CPA has been one of my top earners in the past. It’s easy to use, and has a lot of great offers.
You may think why is it not #1 if It made me so much. Well here is why: $100 payout, net 30, and pays by check only. I also think that some of the offers they have can be spamy so you have to be careful when you check them out. Some offers are 3rd party offers, and that means you could have converting issues.
Why I like them: Some offers allow you to post direct links! This is great if you don’t want to write a full post. You can just put the direct link on your FB or Twitter pages. My account manager is amazing. She always tries her best with any questions or concerns I have.
Pay Per Click campaigns! They get a few of these campaigns a month, and most of those are able to be direct links. My favorite is Amazon Local which usually pays 35 cent a click. In May I made $800+ just on amazon local. (I did have a site with 25,000 Fb fans & 10,000+ twitter followers) so If you have a smaller following you may not make that much. These campaigns go fast though so you have to be quick.

FUN Attractions and Events for your family FREE:

I don’t do as much affiliate work as I use to because I wanted the chance to do more with the family. I love going and visiting new places/attractions. I want to share a great network that does just that for bloggers!

Join Here —> (Tell the Jeanette Mays @ My 3 Ring Circus sent you) Thanks!
The US Family Guide has a huge array of options for bloggers all over the country. When you sign up & get approved you can log in & choose which areas of the USA you would like info for. They even narrow it down to towns & Cities. I have done a few campaigns with them including the Harlem Globetrotters & now a review for a company in New York City. They have things everywhere some like LegoLand, resturants, museums, Adventure Landing, Speedways. They have a lot to choose from & I LOVE spending time with the family at these great attractions for FREE! 🙂

Honorable Mentions:

Sverve –
Easy to use has targeted campaigns, and review opportunities. Payout is at $5 through paypal.

Business2Blogger –
Simple job board site for sponsored posts or reviews. I have done a few things with them. Usually have 10-20 jobs a month.

Tomoson –
If you are looking for more reviews check out Tomoson. They have a lot of great opportunites & with the holidays around the corner more companies will use them. Make sure you stay on top of everything though because companies can give negative feedback to you on the site & your Tomoson score will go down.

The Subscription Box Network:
If you like subscription box companies then here is one to check out!
Here is a Subscription Box network for bloggers. Great payout & they do bonus posts. Looks like occasional reviews as well.
